Course and facilities at Aquiraz Riviera
The course and facilities at Aquiraz Riviera follow the natural shape of a large dune. Donald Steel moved little earth and kept much of the native vegetation, so the undulating ground sets the strategy. The two nine-hole loops differ in character. The Ocean nine has smaller, narrower holes close to the beach. The Dunes nine plays in a tropical, links-like style; top100golfcourses.com calls it the stronger loop. The 4th is a par 3 ringed by native scrub and sand. The 15th is a short par 4 with a risk-reward drive over water and coconut palms on the left. The 16th plays into a crosswind, and the 18th is narrow between dunes and dense vegetation. The course measures 6,975 yards, par 72. Facilities include caddies, golf carts, trolleys, club rental, a pro shop, a bar, a restaurant, locker rooms and a heliport. Practice areas are a driving range, a chipping green and a putting green. The adjoining resort sits on about 35 hectares between the Atlantic Ocean, the dunes and the beach.
