First resort golf course in Brazil

This first Brazilian resort golf course was designed by two British experts: Dave Thomas.  and Peter Allis. The winner of the Brazil Open in 1961. The 18 holes are surrounded by the Atlantic rainforest. With the current laws of nature, there would probably no longer be any permission to build a golf course in the middle of nature.

Frade Golf Course – Renovation by Rafael Navarro

In 2007, the Frade Golf Gourse was completely reconstructed under the supervision of Brazilian professional Rafael Navarro. Therefore new greens were added to 6 holes, while the other 12 were restored. The 11th hole, for instance, has got a new tee box which is now on the top of a 45-meter-high hill. Therefore it offers an amazing view of the course and the sea around Angra dos Reis. Another hole you cannot miss is the 8th, an uphill 148-yard par 3 since the player ball must carry the ruins of a 19th-century aqueduct. It is extremely beautiful, but you must be careful otherwise your ball may get stymied behind one of the old pillars.
